National Honey Board Bakes with the best in the Business at Annual Honey Baking Summit

On June 6-8, the National Honey Board (NHB) hosted its sixth annual Honey Baking Summit in Providence, R.I. The event brought together 18 of the most talented bakers from across the country, and exposed them to two days of learning about honey and developing exceptional bakery foods with honey.

In addition to education and baking sessions, attendees learned about honey bees, visited an apiary and tasted more than 20 varietals of honey. The varietals of honey came from across the United States and included clover, buckwheat, bamboo, blueberry and more. In a wine tasting style, participants analyzed each honey by taste, scent and appearance. The bakers then went to the bakery to use the honey in the development of breads and pastries.

National Honey Board Sweetens up Craft Brewers Conference

Recently the National Honey Board (NHB) exhibited at the annual Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia, talking to brewers about how to incorporate honey into a variety of ales, lagers, stouts and saisons. This year’s conference was the biggest ever in terms of attendees, with more than 13,600 attending the three-day conference and exposition.

The NHB’s booth was buzzing with brewers, each excited about our honey tasting. Visitors to our booth got to try four distinctly different varietals, including Florida Tupelo, Orange Blossom, Northwestern Meadowfoam and Buckwheat. Most brewers that stopped by for the tastings were surprised to find that there are more than 300 varieties of honey in the United States alone.

NHB Supports Women Chefs & Restauranteurs

The National Honey Board (NHB) recently had the privilege of participating in the Women Chefs and Restaurateurs’ (WCR) conference as a returning sponsor. Held this year in Los Angeles, the annual conference strives to advance women in the culinary industry and ignite their vision and drive through a series of events over two days.

The NHB had the pleasure of hosting a mixology workshop as well as presenting the second annual Laurey Masterton Golden Amulet Award. In addition, honey was well represented across event menus – starting with the opening night reception at the Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica, where renowned LA-based Chef Suzanne Tracht (The Jar) dished up a mouth-watering Roasted Leg of Lamb, Honey Persian Mint and Sweet Onion Salad alongside her staff.
