National Honey Board Sweetens up Craft Brewers Conference

Recently the National Honey Board (NHB) exhibited at the annual Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia, talking to brewers about how to incorporate honey into a variety of ales, lagers, stouts and saisons. This year’s conference was the biggest ever in terms of attendees, with more than 13,600 attending the three-day conference and exposition.

The NHB’s booth was buzzing with brewers, each excited about our honey tasting. Visitors to our booth got to try four distinctly different varietals, including Florida Tupelo, Orange Blossom, Northwestern Meadowfoam and Buckwheat. Most brewers that stopped by for the tastings were surprised to find that there are more than 300 varieties of honey in the United States alone.

In addition to the tastings, we also talked to attendees about the technical science behind ...

NHB Supports Women Chefs & Restauranteurs

The National Honey Board (NHB) recently had the privilege of participating in the Women Chefs and Restaurateurs’ (WCR) conference as a returning sponsor. Held this year in Los Angeles, the annual conference strives to advance women in the culinary industry and ignite their vision and drive through a series of events over two days.

The NHB had the pleasure of hosting a mixology workshop as well as presenting the second annual Laurey Masterton Golden Amulet Award. In addition, honey was well represented across event menus – starting with the opening night reception at the Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica, where renowned LA-based Chef Suzanne Tracht (The Jar) dished up a mouth-watering Roasted Leg of Lamb, Honey Persian Mint and Sweet Onion Salad alongside her staff.

Honey Bees Make Earth Day Sweet

Honey Bees Make Earth Day Sweet

Spring has officially sprung, which means that the bees and butterflies are buzzing in gardens across the country. Since we celebrated Earth Day last week, we thought that we would take this time to honor the honey bee for all her hard work, not only making honey, but making our world a more beautiful and flavorful place.

While honeybees are known for making the sweet golden treat of their namesake, honey, did you also know that these busy ladies are also responsible for a large portion of our agricultural market and even the very delicious food items on your plate? This very vital second function of honey bees is known as pollination.

Pollination is the fertilization of a flowering plant.  Pollination occurs when pollen is transferred from the anthers of a flower to the ovules of that or another flower. Honey ...

Honey Shines at Disney’s The Jungle Book World Premiere!

Posted by National Honey Board on April 12, 2016 - 5:02 PM

As part of our collaboration with Disney on the release of their all-new live-action epic adventure The Jungle Book, in theaters April 15th, the National Honey Board (NHB) was in Los Angeles to sponsor the red carpet world premiere, held at the historic El Capitan Theater. As nature’s “bare necessity,” and a favorite snack of the beloved Baloo the bear, honey is prominently featured in the film itself, and was well represented at the premiere party.

To kick off the evening, the NHB was featured on the backdrop of the red carpet, providing visibility as the stars walked and posed for photos coming into the theater. Being one of only four premiere sponsors allowed us great exposure in an elite space.

The NHB team was pleasantly surprised with the amount of honey mentions and representations ...

Honey Shines like Gold at Taste of Home Cooking School

It’s only April and already 2016 has been an exciting year for the National Honey Board (NHB).  We saw great success at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in Miami, FL, launched an exciting new partnership with Disney, and have seen the development of some sweet new honey recipes. While we have seen many new beginnings in these last few months, we are always excited to see our continuing partnerships thrive as well.

This year marks our third season as a sponsor of the Taste of Home (TOH) Cooking School, a program that tours around the country bringing simple recipes that make everyday cooks look like culinary experts. We love being a part of this program because it gives the NHB another great opportunity to engage the general public in areas that we wouldn’t normally be able to reach. Last week we ...

Get Wild with Honey and Disney’s The Jungle Book!

The busy bees have been buzzing here in the National Honey Board (NHB) hive, all in preparation for the release of Disney’s all-new live-action epic adventure The Jungle Book, in theaters April 15th.

Now you may be asking yourself, “What does the NHB have to do with the release of Disney’s newest film?” Well, we’ll tell you.

You may recall that back in January we announced that we had some “awesome surprises” planned for 2016, and this is one of them.

We here at the NHB are more than pleased to announce that we are collaborating with Disney on the release of The Jungle Book! This film, directed by Jon Farveau (Iron Man), follows Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub raised in the jungle by a family of wolves, who embarks on a captivating ...
