Our little beehive is buzzing in preparation for September, or as we like to refer to it, National Honey Month. With over 300 varietals in the United States, ranging in both color and flavor from nearly colorless and mild to dark brown with robust flavor, how can we not celebrate?
So much about what we all love about the fall is thanks to the humble honey bee – apples, pears, cranberries, and, of course, honey! Did you know that the 60,000 or so bees in a beehive may collectively travel as much as 55,000 miles and visit more than two million flowers to gather enough nectar to make just a pound of honey? That’s right, and consumers are finding more uses for the all-natural ingredient every day!
