Chocolate Strawberry Martini, Yes Please!

Chocolate Martini

One week from tomorrow, it will be Valentine’s Day. The U.S. Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately 190 million valentines are sent each year in the US. Half of these cards are given to significant others, but the other half are given to other family members and children. It has been noted that schoolteachers are the people who receive the most valentines each and every year.

This year, the National Honey Board wanted to mix it up a little bit. Whether you are celebrating Valentine’s Day with your significant other or having an Anti-Valentine’s Day with your friends, we figure this recipe is sure to be a hit. We have created the Chocolate Strawberry for my Honey Martini, in the hopes you and your loved ones can enjoy a delicious drink as well as each another.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you that love this holiday and those of you who don’t feel the same.

Chocolate Strawberry for my Honey

Makes 1 beverage
• 1-1/4 oz. tequila rose
• 1-1/4 oz. godiva liqueur
• 1 oz. Honey Simple Syrup

Mix in tin over ice. Strain into Martini glass. Garnish with chocolate dipped strawberry.

Honey Simple Syrup
Makes variable amount as needed
• Honey
• Hot water

Mix 4 parts honey to 1 part hot water in a saucepan. Heat gently over medium-low heat until the mixture reaches a simmer. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. To store, transfer the syrup to a squeeze bottle or covered drink pourer for easy pouring. Store at room temperature.
Tip: While mixture is simmering, infuse the syrup with herbs or spices for a light, savory flavor note. Or, add a dash of vanilla extract to make Honey-vanilla Simple Syrup.
