Honey boosted energy levels at the Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic!

The National Honey Board exhibited at the Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic in Washington, D.C., February 18-21, to promote honey as a natural energy booster. This event brought together more than 400 teams of volleyball players, ages 12-18, to compete in a national tournament. Held annually over President’s Day weekend, the tournament draws about 5,000 athletes, more than 700 club coaches and approximately 100 college coaches.
The National Honey Board was excited to participate in this event and to reach out to such a key demographic (young athletes) with our energy messaging. While exhibiting, we handed out many of our marketing brochures, as well as honey lip balms, drawstring sports packs and honey sticks.
Many of the families that attended the event were surprised to learn that honey could be used as an energy booster before, during and after the games. Some family members said they had never even tasted honey! We took it upon ourselves to introduce them to the wonderful world of honey by offering a sample and telling them about the many benefits of the deliciously sweet substance, on and off of the volleyball court.
It was such a pleasure to meet (and create!) so many honey enthusiasts at this volleyball tournament. We’re gearing up for more great energy-boosting events in 2011, so stay tuned for updates!
