The Sticky Station, Bayou Bakery

Chef Guas refilling the Sticky Station

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery in Arlington, Virginia (located just outside Washington, D.C.). This lovely southern-style café – hence the name – is owned by NHB spokesman Chef David Guas. The delicious menu of traditional southern fare with a zesty spin and melt-in-your-mouth beignets were such a treat – and believe us, there was not a crumb left on our plates!

But the stand out to us, besides the vintage décor and Louisiana-inspired menu, was the Sticky Station – a “condiment bar” of varietal honeys. Here, customers will find plenty of honey for those tasty beignets, specialty coffee, loose leaf teas or anything else that suits their fancy. What a novel idea!

Would you like to see a honey (sticky) station in your favorite restaurant? What are some of your favorite varietals that you think would be wonderful features at a station like this?
