In the relatively short time since its introduction, electrophoresis in starch and polyacrylamide gels has become extremely valuable for the study of proteins. Visualization of separated bands by appropriate staining has been generally adequate for examination and photography of the results; clearing of inter zones with minimal loss of thedye-protein complex usually permits observation of fine structure.
