Misinterpretation of some analytical results obtained by using the carbon isotope ratio method for determining adulteration in honey has resulted in misclassification as adulterated some honeys falling in the grey area (-23.4 to -21.5 per mil). Samples having isotope ratios in that range must be confirmed by a positive TLC test.
