This invention relates to the recovery of a material rich in proteins having chlorophyll-bearing cell walls. This material, frequently referred to as “protoplast,” is a material within the cell walls of leaves and stems comprising generally the protoplasm, thought to be a highly complex lipo-protein emulsion, salts, sugars, nucleus, chloroplasts and other plastids, and such water-insoluble substances as oil, resin, rubber and carotene.
