9.31 Relative sweetness of sugars. This field has been studied for many years, but Cameron (1947) pointed out that much of the earlier work was of limited value because it did not recognize that relative sweetness frequently changes with concentration. He also emphasized that individual variation in taste perception and threshold is enormous, and reminded us of Blakeslee’s comment (Cameron, 1947, page 24) “Different people live in different worlds, so far as their sensory reactions are concerned”.
