Honey from citrus (largely orange and grapefruit) is a product for which a premium may be obtained when it is of high quality, It consequently may be admixed with other types, without labeling, with the mixture being marketed as pure citrus honey. Tupelo honey, another premium type, had in the past been subject to the same treatment, but is now certified by the State of Florida as authentic, based on their testing of samples. Pollen analysis is a major part of the testing being used for the tupelo program.
