My appreciation to Troy Fore for allowing me to set the record straight on the matter of detection of honey adulteration by carbon isotope ratio analysis (SIRA) and to respond to personal attacks by Mr. Phipps. It is instructive to hear the latest Chinese party line on this ongoing problem, now that they have essentially destroyed the American beekeeping industry. I cannot resist drawing attention to his statement “Without China’s complementary role, the growth and stability of the American honey industry ......is jeopardized”. I shall confine my remarks essentially to the scientific aspects of Phipps’
accusations and discuss his misguided understanding of the use of statistical treatment of data sets.
