Last week, the National Honey Board (NHB) had the opportunity to exhibit at the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE). The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' (AND) annual meeting is the premier event for food and nutrition professionals. The latest nutrition science information, foodservice trends and access to the top experts are showcased at this annual conference.
The NHB attended the expo, in an effort to reach out to health care professionals to promote our First Birthday program. Research findings have uncovered widespread confusion surrounding the age when babies can eat honey. Through educational outreach, the NHB aims to dispel honey misconceptions, explain the benefits of honey and remind parents that honey may be given to babies older than one year of age.
Honey was a huge hit at the conference and we had the opportunity to reach out to conference goers and educate them on both honey, as well as our First Birthday message. We also created our Bee Birthday Cake with Honey (of course) and that added an extra layer of curiosity, driving more people to our booth.
We had a wonderful time at the conference and know our message was well received. Outside of the conference, we also had a press release available to media. The Honey Bear took full advantage of this and was featured in Time Square, along with the headline, First Birthday Gift for the Whole Family: Babies Can Enjoy Honey.
Our first Birthday program has been a wonderful program to educate consumers and industry professionals and we look forward to more shining moments!
