Fruit and Honey Tzimmes

YIELD: 16 servings


2 cups water
1/2 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 lbs. (about 6 cups) dried mixed fruit
2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries*
2 cups sliced (1/2-inch thick) carrots


Combine water, honey and cinnamon in large saucepan; bring to boil. Add remaining ingredients and return to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes or until carrots are cooked and dried fruits are tender; stir occasionally. Serve hot or cold as an accompaniment to the main course.*One cup dried cranberries may be substituted.
